We love to feel beautiful, and even more so, we LOVE ... love!
Every woman has a natural adoration for feeling her own beauty, and with it comes romance. But have we ever stopped to ask why? Why do so many women crave the feeling and passion of love? Is it because of our social upbringing, or are there other inherent traits?
There isn’t a doubt that society constantly encourages women to be romantic. There is a significant emphasis on love and its idealism, as well as being beautiful. Who wants to kiss another with dry lips? Lip gloss, beauty products, and romance novels seem to go hand in hand.
Many books children grow up reading promote those love-filled fantasies where a charming prince comes to rescue a beautiful woman. Have you ever seen a depiction of an unattractive woman waiting for a handsome prince? Same! As we said, they go hand in hand in a majority of people’s minds. Art and literature typically create roles for the genders, such as the beautiful damsel in distress awaiting the handsome, heroic prince.
Is it just us, or did Sleeping Beauty have flawless and glossy lips the whole time she laid in her slumber? How did the prince wake her up? With a kiss, of course. Regardless of the messages or themes of these fairy tales, one solid and common message is portrayed. A beautiful woman struggling, and her only hope is to find a handsome, wealthy man to rescue her, so they can live happily ever after!
Regardless of gender, we all want to be loved and feel attractive. The desires may not come through the same way with everyone, but it’s there, and it’s natural. We don’t know that we’ve ever heard anyone say they wish they were ugly and unattractive. So, now that we’ve covered that aspect of women being full of romance, let’s talk about our lips.
You’re looking for love, maybe not intensely, but you’re at least hoping you find it with someone incredible. Your hair looks fantastic, the outfit is incredible, and your eyebrows are as sleek. Did you remember to hit those lips? It would be so embarrassing to be out on a date awaiting the romantic kiss with no result because, girl, your lips are too dry. Licking them won’t help, and your prince charming is about to roll out down the road. Let’s stop right there and talk about how to get your lips ready for that romantic kiss.
The Key
Licking your lips won’t do! Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water all the time, not just on your romantic night out. Our skin needs the water we drink to hydrate and freshen up. If we don’t drink enough water, our skin everywhere, including our lips, will get dry and start cracking.
Balm Not Gloss
Lip gloss is excellent and all, but its job is to lock in moisture. If your lips are already dry, a gloss is just going to coat them, and once it rubs off, and it will, your lips will still be dry. You don’t want to be mid-kiss and lose that smooth, silky feeling. Instead, use lip balm because it hydrates your lips and adds some gloss to that floss!
Put Down The Matte
You want to avoid matte lipstick, especially during the winter. This type of lipstick can cause your lips to peel and dry out during cold weather.
Exfoliate
Gently exfoliate your lips using sea salt or sugar exfoliant to help your lips stay smooth and silky.
One last tip is to use a lip mask. If you’ve never heard of them, we highly suggest you look into them because they are amazing. Lip masks raise your lip’s moisture levels for a more extended time. Don’t scare off your handsome prince with cracked, dry lips. Even if you’re not looking for love, no one lusts after dry lips!
