Burns, Peeling & Other Skincare Nightmares

What’s worse than nightmares while you sleep? Skincare nightmares that haunt you while you’re wide awake. It’s true that many people want their skin to be healthy and look good too. There are some aspects of our skin’s health we worry about often, but once you’ve read this article you can turn those skincare nightmares into sweet dreams!

24/7 Dry Skin

Dry skin can be caused by numerous reasons including the weather and harsh chemicals in cleaners. As winter approaches our skin loses moisture leaving us dry, ashy, and sometimes flakey.

If you’re dealing with dry skin we say it’s time for a double dose of moisturizer. After you’ve used your preferred cleanser and toners, use a hydrating serum and top it off with a layer of moisturizer before adding your day/night cream.

Peeling Lips

Not only are dry, peeling lips embarrassing, they can be uncomfortable and even painful. Our lips can peel during the summer and winter months. During the summer our lips are exposed to the intense sunshine and during the winter our lips suffer from the cold and a lack of moisture. Avoid those over-drying matte lipsticks because they’ll only add to the nightmare. Instead, go for lip gloss that contains shea butter and coconut oil as a base to help hydrate your lips. Remember, exfoliate your lips and avoid licking them to help keep them from peeling.

The Big Break-Out

Are you experiencing a big break-out the day before a big event? If so, you need to focus on being prepared for both events; the event itself and the break-out. A serum designed for oily skin and overnight drying lotion can be applied before bed to help keep the nightmare break out from ever taking place!

Red Face!

Another real nightmare is when our skin becomes irritated and red. No worries, you can solve that nightmare too! Red face is usually caused by some sort of skin sensitivity that is triggered by something such as stress, alcohol or the food you’re eating. Invest in skin care products made with ingredients that cater to sensitive skin. You should also get with a dermatologist to find out what might be triggering you to further help avoid a red, irritated face!

Too Much Shine

Sometimes our skin goes against the grain of the norms and remains extra shiny, even during the winter. There’s no need to skip out on using moisturizer because it can actually cause an opposite reaction by tricking your skin to be over productive and lead to more oil secretion. Instead, choose an oil-free moisturizer to avoid the issue. Go for a serum to help hydrate, as well as control the shine.

Burns

Whether it is a sunburn or a literal burn, they’re nightmares. Any sort of burn can result in damaged skin and tissues, which lead to scarring. You’ll want to use aloe vera to help soothe and heal the area. Talk to your doctor to help treat the burns and the aftercare to avoid any unnecessary scarring.

Skincare nightmares can be stressful, but when you know how to handle them properly, there’s no need to worry. Turn your nightmares into sweet dreams by staying educated and on the top o
